Specialised maritime containers undergo strict quality checks. Container inspectors need to be trained and certified both on dealing with paperwork and in practical aspects of physical container inspection and testing. We took the whole program from physical into 360 VR, with simulations, interactive demos, and full test suite. Lucky break: the course was delivered weeks before pandemic hit! We have been successfully working with DNV ever since.
Process
Trainees move through the same visual checks and decision points they'd face on a real inspection — spotting damage, corrosion, structural faults — without the travel cost or the wait for site access.
The timing turned out to matter more than planned: it launched right before COVID-19 hit, and became one of the only ways DNV could keep inspector training running when travel stopped altogether.
